Darkness From Within

Expose yourself to your deepest fear, after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.
— Jim Morrison

What do you fear the most?

Is it death?

Is it failure?

Is it heartbreak?

Is it spiders?

One thing that people don't talk about is that it is okay to have some type of fear in your system.

One thing that I can say for sure is that I am going through right now is that I want change in my life. To portray my life as something worth living is a lie, I definitely face a lot of adversity but that is good. Adversity can be your best friend if you are willing to react positively to what life throws at you. It also brings out some unknown characteristic traits that you never knew you possessed. Have you ever felt like you were so close to obtaining something but you never actually obtain it yet you are out there just waiting...? The reason why I label this post the darkness from within is because we as man/woman posses darkness within us whether we want to accept it or not. When I say darkness I mean a part of us that has not experience the light. Okay, so the question is how do you tap into something that you know nothing about right? To be honest, I don't know everybody is different, but what I do know is that if you suppress who you are for who you think you should be like the results will just set you back so much longer. Society plays its part trying to keep you in a box, but what if you don't want to be in the box anymore? What if you wanted to stand out? Will you be satisfied being misunderstood in the long run of discovering different things about yourself? Some will say no but taking a chance on myself is something worth betting on, I just feel like discovering who you are will benefit you in the long run. Don't ever fear what you don't know, it just doesn't make sense to do such a thing but it is okay cause in some sense that is how we are wired.

Steps I have taken in the process of discovering things about myself:

  1. I started looking at things that happened in the world and in my life objectively. I just felt like if I look at things from a perspective without emotions then things would become clearer to me.

  2. I began to bring more self-awareness about my surroundings especially when it comes to dealing with my own life in particular.

  3. Being truthful to yourself about your situation is probably to a lot of what actually goes on in your life. Living a lie seems so much more appealing right? But yeah be truthful to yourself for the sake of moving forward in your life.

Like I said before my life is not all put together but I have made the first step to make a change in my life. Don't let that darkness that you hold from within take over who you are meant to be. If you ever get stuck in life remember that you are not alone.
